Our Specialties

We help you reach the highest–level of recovery

We are here to meet the needs of patients throughout the Monterey and Salinas regions in attending to chronic conditions, illnesses, injuries, and all other phases of spine and joint care. Our comprehensive Specialty Centers address: brain and neurological problems; back and neck pain; joint replacement; sports medicine; and foot, ankle, hand and arm problems. We are also affiliated with a complete physical therapy department, exercise gym, and offer digital X-ray capability at our Ryan Ranch office.

Throughout our specialty service practices, we take a multidisciplinary team approach that emphasizes nonsurgical and minimally invasive treatment. Our goal is to return our patients back to a strong and healthy life as quickly and safely as possible. We value integrity in our decisions, and our dealings with patients and their families are based on honesty and trust.

Brain & Spine

At Monterey Spine & Joint, our safe and effective team approach to neurological, back and neck problems emphasizes nonsurgical options. We offer the expertise of nonsurgical specialists, therapists and spine-specialized surgeons – all under one roof. We are proponents of minimally invasive spine surgery, with a smaller incision, less painful recovery and a faster return to activity. Patients frequently return home the same day of their procedure. But if more extensive surgery is appropriate, you could not be in better hands. We are fully qualified to give you all the information you need to make a confident choice. Our highly accomplished and exceptionally qualified surgeons represent the best in modern medicine.

Joint Replacement

The surgeons at Monterey Spine & Joint specialize in joint replacement surgery of the shoulder, hip and knee. We are well trained in standard and reverse total shoulder replacement surgery. We perform the anterior approach for hip replacements and computer assisted surgery for total knee replacements. Our joint replacement surgeons work with a team of non-operative joint care specialists to help patients who require rehabilitation instead of surgical intervention. Monterey Spine & Joint was first to design a comprehensive joint replacement program on the Monterey Peninsula. So, if your joint pain is getting in the way of your favorite activities or if you are considering a joint replacement surgery, please call to schedule a consultation.

Foot & Ankle

At Monterey Spine & Joint, we take a whole-body approach to your feet and ankles, because we know that your overall wellness can play a role in the health of your feet. That’s why nutrition and lifestyle counseling might be part of your care. And we do more than simply relieve your foot pain – we do everything possible to make sure it doesn’t return. The path to lasting relief, for example, might include physical therapy or custom-designed orthotics. We also offer flexible appointment times and accept and file most major insurance plans and Medicare for you. And we’re proud to say we make daily calls to our patients recovering from surgery, to make sure everything is going as well – and as comfortably – as possible. At Monterey Spine & Joint, you’re working with highly qualified professionals who are experienced and caring.

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

A physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) doctor or physiatrist, specializes in the nonsurgical management of back and neck pain as well as other musculoskeletal problems. A physiatrist provides techniques and treatments that allow back and neck pain sufferers to return to activity without surgery. This can include injections that serve two purposes: relief of pain as well as providing additional diagnostic information about the cause of back or neck pain. Our physiatrists focus on restoring function to patients with such joint and muscle conditions as sore shoulders, back and neck pain, tendonitis, and pinched nerves, as well as complex orthopedic, sports and work-related injuries. Treatment options include physical therapy, injections, and medication management, as well Monterey Spine & Joint’s unique ability to provide comprehensive care integrating several specialty areas.

Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is a branch of medicine that uses methods to regrow, repair or replace damaged or diseased cells, organs or tissues. At Monterey Spine & Joint we utilize this science coupled with minimally invasive techniques to offer our patients an alternative to surgery. There are many different forms of regenerative medicine, at Monterey Spine & Joint we currently offer Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Stem Cells and Chondrocyte harvesting treatments. In our state-of-the-art orthopedic practice, we utilize these techniques to help repair damaged and worn ligaments, tendons, cartilage and joints.
