Samera Kasim, DO, FAAOS is a Fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in upper extremity conditions as well as sports injuries.

She completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University in College Station. Dr. Kasim earned her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth.

At Midwestern University, Dr. Kasim completed her residency training in orthopedic surgery followed by advanced Fellowship training in shoulder and upper extremity at the San Francisco Shoulder, Elbow & Hand Clinic. Dr. Kasim practices general orthopedics and sports medicine with concentrations in disorders of the shoulder.

Dr. Kasim is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and Associate member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. She also serves as the Shoulder and Elbow division president for the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, Chair of Orthopedics at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and Vice President of Monterey Spine and Joint. Dr. Kasim is a member of the medical staffs of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and Monterey Peninsula Surgery Centers.

Her career goals are to contribute to the rapidly evolving advancements in shoulder surgery through medical education and to create innovation through collaboration with colleagues across the world. When she is not spending time practicing medicine, she enjoys being a daughter and auntie. She enjoys exercising, the outdoors, cooking…. And eating!
