Christopher Meckel, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and co-founder of Monterey Spine and Joint, where he is recognized as the hip and knee replacement specialist.
His expertise in joint replacement surgery allows for minimally invasive anterior total hip replacements and minimally invasive, computer assisted knee replacements.
He completed his undergraduate degree in medical anthropology at the University of California at Berkeley and earned his Master of Science degree in the biological sciences from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Dr. Meckel was a Dean’s Scholar at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine and received his medical doctorate degree in 1996. He completed a general surgical internship and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center.
Dr. Meckel pursued advanced training in arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine, and joint reconstruction in a Fellowship with the AOS Medical Center in Glendale, Calif., where he joined a team of physicians pioneering the latest techniques in anterior total hip replacements and computer-assisted total knee arthroplasty.
Dr. Meckel is an associate Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, a member of the University of Southern California Graduate Orthopedic Society, and is one of the team physicians for California State University Monterey Bay.
